Forest Caves carpark – toilets available
Details

Start with a stroll to Scenic Estate to have morning tea overlooking Churchill Island Marine National Park. Walk back to Forest Caves carpark and across the high sand dunes capturing the beautiful views across the narrowest point on the Island (850m wide) with the still bay on one side and the ferocious ocean on the other.

Stroll along the long golden beach to the rugged red rock outcrop to explore the caves at the very low tide of 0.2 – 0.3m. Finish the walk with a gentle wander around Surf Beach (East), where much of the area still feels frozen in time, capturing the charm and character of a quiet coastal hamlet just as it was 60 years ago.

Meeting Place
Kilcunda Beach Carpark near the Kilcunda caravan park
Details

Rugged sandstone cliffs and sweeping ocean panoramas define this stunning section of the George Bass Coastal Walk.  The track winds across grassy headlands and along sandy paths that hug the coastline of the Bass Strait. If you fancy a bit of exploring, the rock pools at Sandy Waterhole Beach are a real treat during low tide.

Moderate walk 9Kms

The trail is mostly exposed to the elements, so bringing a hat and sunscreen is essential to protect against the Victorian sun. Underfoot, the terrain is generally well-kept, though some sandy stretches and rocky patches near the beach require steady footing.
