About Us

Aims

  1. To bring together people who enjoy recreational walking.
  2. To organise walks at various locations and of varying duration as well as some social activities.
  3. To make friends and encourage and support each other.

Introduction

Bass Coast Strollers walking group was established in May 1998 for those interested in light to medium walking exercise with a social aspect as well. We organise regular walks every Monday morning except Christmas holidays and Easter, followed by a picnic lunch. The walks are usually graded easy to medium

We have two options

Short walks lasting an hour (approx 4kms)
Long walks lasting 2.5 to 3 hours (between 8 and 10 kms,  sometimes more- maybe 12km eg Rail Trails)
Most walks are within the Bass Coast Shire. They may be bush or beach, tracks or railtrails etc. Occasionally we have day trips into neighbouring shires and also offer trips away of between 1 and 4 nights around the state, 2 or 3 times a year, staying in modest cost accommodation.

Various social events are organised through the year, including Australia Day lunch to start the year, celebrating the big"0" birthdays with a special lunch,  an evening walk in March followed by BBQ or takeaways together, and a mid year sitdown lunch. Also, "End of Year Breakup" together somewhere.

Membership

Prospective members are welcome to join us for 3 walks before deciding if they would like to join.  Annual fees are $35. Most of this goes to membership fees and insurance through Bushwalking Vic., which we are a afiliated member club.
